Logline: After years of estrangement from their son, an elderly couple’s cross-country drive through a dense, unsettling fog forces them to confront fading memories and a shared tragedy they can no longer outrun.

Synopsis: Darius and Gail, an elderly couple burdened by unspoken grief, set off on a road trip in their aging Buick, laden with suitcases and a mysterious wooden box.

A thick, unnatural fog clings to their suburban neighborhood and pursues them onto the highway, mirroring the growing confusion in Darius’s mind. His memory unravels, recent events vanish, details about their son, Zachary, become distorted, and their destination remains frustratingly out of reach.

Gail fights to keep him grounded, dispensing medication and patiently navigating his disorientation. But she, too, is burdened by secrets that grow heavier with each passing mile, her grip on the wooden box tightening as if it’s the only thing keeping her grounded.

The fog distorts reality, leading them to deserted gas stations and eerie motels where time seems to stand still.

As Darius’s grip on reality slips, the fog thickens, and the chilling truth of their journey emerges: they are not merely traveling across a map, but through the fractured terrain of their grief-stricken past, toward a final, heartbreaking reckoning.

INTO THE FOG is a short, oneiric drama that follows an elderly couple on a road trip through a dreamlike landscape, blurring the lines between reality and memory. We accompany them on their final journey, which becomes a reflection of all the joys and sadness that come with growing old together. As they travel through different places, they are reminded of love, laughter, and tears. It is a bittersweet farewell, but one that leaves them with a sense of gratitude for the journey they shared.
