About Us

indieX.RED

IndieX Film Fest is an international short film festival based in Los Angeles.

Through 12 monthly competition rounds, IndieX recognizes outstanding independent work from around the world while building toward its Annual Awards and Live Showcase. The strongest monthly nominees and award winners qualify for consideration for the annual program, where selected filmmakers, cast members, industry professionals, and guests come together for screenings, Q&A sessions, networking, and the Annual Awards Show.

In addition to its live festival experience, IndieX provides filmmakers with more than USD $12,000 in professional services each year through partnerships with leading industry companies. The festival also supports filmmakers through written jury feedback, including reviews for every short script submitted and for the highest-rated films of each monthly competition.

Monthly selections, nominations, and awards are announced online. Physical screenings take place through the Annual Awards Showcase and occasional curated screenings and filmmaker Q&A events in Los Angeles.

AN INTERNATIONAL HOME FOR INDEPENDENT FILM

IndieX welcomes projects from every country and genre, with particular attention to filmmakers and perspectives traditionally underrepresented within the global film industry.

The festival creates space for bold, unconventional, transgressive, eccentric, and difficult-to-categorize work alongside accomplished traditional narratives. Whether linear or nonlinear, restrained or provocative, IndieX is interested in independent projects with a clear artistic identity—including films that do not fit comfortably within conventional categories.

THE LOS ANGELES FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE

The most recent IndieX Film Fest Annual Awards Showcases have been held at Regal LA LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, welcoming filmmakers, cast members, industry guests, and attendees from around the world.

The live programs have featured film screenings, filmmaker Q&A sessions, industry conversations, networking activities, and the Annual Awards Show.

In addition to the annual showcase, IndieX occasionally organizes curated screenings and Q&A events with participating filmmakers, cast members, and crews.

FESTIVAL HISTORY AND VENUES

From the theaters of Raleigh Studios Hollywood to Regal LA LIVE, IndieX has presented more than 450 films through its annual showcases, special screenings, and filmmaker Q&A events.

These Los Angeles events have welcomed more than 4,000 attendees from around the world.

HOW THE MONTHLY COMPETITION WORKS

All submissions are evaluated according to consistent standards of quality, creativity, technical execution, originality, and overall artistic merit.

Each entry is scored by at least three independently assigned judges drawn from the film industry, academia, and related creative fields. The highest-rated entries become nominees in their respective categories. Following a further comparative evaluation, the jury determines the award winners.

The strongest monthly nominees and award winners qualify for consideration at the IndieX Film Fest Annual Awards. From the projects recognized across 12 monthly rounds, the annual judging team selects approximately 75–85 Best of the Year nominees across multiple genres, crafts, performances, and production categories.

Monthly Official Selection, nomination, or award status does not guarantee a public screening. Projects selected for an in-person event receive a separate invitation with the applicable participation and attendance information.
