Gen Z

Gen Z is a gripping, emotionally charged drama that weaves together the lives of three individuals, Diya, Martin, and Professor Stan, against the backdrop of a hyper-connected digital world, where identity, validation, and science collide.

Martin, a driven bioinformatics graduate student, becomes increasingly absorbed in decoding the relationship between genes and human behaviour. Inspired by the philosophical depth of Professor Stan’s lectures, his research begins as an academic pursuit but soon evolves into a deeper inquiry into what truly defines human identity, biology, environment, or experience.

At the same time, Diya, a spirited 15-year-old, appears to be living the vibrant life typical of her generation. Beneath her cheerful exterior, however, she is quietly battling the pressures of social media, constant comparison, online judgement, and the need for validation. As the digital noise intensifies, so does her internal struggle.

When Diya suddenly goes missing, her family, Aravind, Maya, and her sister Riya, are thrown into a desperate search for answers. What unfolds is a haunting exploration of cyberbullying and its unseen consequences, exposing the darker side of a world that is always “connected,” yet deeply isolating.

Meanwhile, Professor Stan serves as the philosophical anchor of the narrative, guiding Martin through complex ideas about life, mortality, and the enduring imprint of our genetic and emotional legacy. As Martin’s research deepens, he is forced to confront the ethical and emotional boundaries of scientific discovery.

The story converges in a powerful and unexpected climax, where science, emotion, and human connection intersect, revealing the lasting scars of digital cruelty and raising unsettling questions about the forces that shape who we become.

Gen Z is a reflection on the fragility of youth in the digital age, the invisible weight of online lives, and the profound interplay between genetics and human experience. It challenges audiences to reconsider the cost of connection, the meaning of identity, and the responsibility we hold toward one another in an increasingly virtual world.
