The story follows a man who after a devastating argument, drives to his wife’s hometown to make things right – only to realize something is deeply wrong with the town and the people in it.

Carter follows his wife Ophelia to her childhood home after yet another mistake drives her out of the city. When he arrives, the house is silent. The lights are off. Her bags remain in her car. No one answers the door. The police offer little help. Convinced something is wrong, Carter stays behind. The house feels preserved in a way that unsettles him—rooms untouched, photographs subtly turned away, long hallways that seem to narrow the longer he stands in them, and the persistent sense that he is not alone. As he searches for signs of Ophelia, small inconsistencies begin to surface. Doors stand open where he remembers closing them. Objects appear where they were not before. The photographs throughout the house suggest a past that does not align with the woman he thought he knew. He begins to question everything.

The longer Carter remains inside the home, the less certain he becomes that he is uncovering the truth rather than slowly being absorbed into it.
