IndieX Film Fest Annual Awards 2026 is proud to welcome German filmmaker Joshua Mueller as a guest speaker for the Industry Panel during the festival’s 6th annual edition, taking place on May 30, 2026, at Regal LA Live, Los Angeles.

At just 29 years old, Joshua Mueller has already built a distinctive voice as a writer, director, producer, editor, and cinematographer, balancing commercial work with a deeply personal commitment to independent filmmaking. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, Mueller has been working in the film industry since the age of sixteen, collaborating with international brands including Brabus, Universal Music Group, and Adidas.
Alongside his commercial projects, Mueller continues to pursue his passion for independent cinema through his ambitious ongoing project Six Short Films — a series of interconnected short films designed to ultimately evolve into a feature-length narrative. Two entries from that larger vision, Clocking Out and The Boy & The Wolf, are both nominated at this year’s IndieX Film Fest Annual Awards and will screen during the event.
Joshua first drew attention at IndieX Film Fest with the neo-noir thriller Clocking Out, a tense and stripped-down psychological thriller centered on a woman trapped in an increasingly unsettling encounter after a brutal workday.
More recently, Mueller returned to the spotlight with The Boy & The Wolf, an emotionally charged drama that further expanded his evolving cinematic universe and reinforced his reputation as one of the emerging voices in independent European filmmaking. The film will have its World Premiere during the 6th Annual IndieX Film Fest at Regal LA Live.

Created with little to no budget, Mueller’s films reflect his belief that impactful storytelling does not depend on large-scale productions, but on passion, creativity, atmosphere, and authenticity. His work often blends intimate human emotion with strong visual identity, proving that independent filmmaking can thrive through resourcefulness and artistic conviction.

One of the highlights of the Annual Awards 2026 showcase will be the Industry Panel, bringing together filmmakers and industry professionals for an open conversation about independent filmmaking, creative process, production challenges, and building cinematic work outside traditional studio systems.

Set to take place during the live event, the panel offers attending filmmakers and guests the opportunity to hear directly from artists working across directing, producing, cinematography, writing, editing, and independent production.
As part of this year’s conversation, Joshua Mueller is expected to share insights into his experience creating visually ambitious films with extremely limited resources, as well as his approach to multi-role filmmaking. Audiences can also expect discussion surrounding his ongoing project Six Short Films.
His perspective on self-produced cinema, low-budget storytelling, and building emotionally driven films outside conventional production systems is expected to offer a particularly valuable conversation for emerging filmmakers attending the festival.
Festival attendees will also have the opportunity to watch both Clocking Out and The Boy & The Wolf during the Annual Awards screenings at Regal LA Live, where filmmakers and industry guests from multiple countries will gather for a full day of screenings, networking events, and the evening Awards Show.
The 6th Annual IndieX Film Fest features 65 films from 18 countries across 11 screening blocks and 3 auditoriums.
