The story tells of an emotional turning point in the coming-of-age journey of a sixteen-year-old girl named Qiqi. During a break at school, Qiqi gets into a fight while standing up for a classmate, and her teacher calls her parents in. Although she appears rebellious and indifferent on the surface, she has always believed that her father—who she thinks is on a business trip in Hong Kong—will return and take her to see the sea. The pair of pink sunglasses she treasures carries all her hopes.
However, after returning home, she accidentally overhears her parents arguing and discovers that the so-called “business trip” is actually a lie covering up the breakdown of their relationship. During the argument, her father smashes her beloved sunglasses, triggering a fierce conflict between them.
Later that night, in a quiet conversation, her father finally admits that he and her mother are separating, awkwardly expressing his care for her. Eventually, he comes to pick her up from school, and only then does Qiqi truly understand the truth behind the lie.
