Echoes of the Mountain Singer is a deeply personal journey into the heart of Yunnan’s folk traditions, seen through the eyes of a high school student and singer. Traveling across Pu’er over four years, Grace meets women from the Hani, Wa, and Jino communities—each a guardian of ancestral melodies. Their songs, passed down for generations, reveal a profound connection between music, identity, and home. As younger generations drift away and traditions face the risk of fading, these voices rise like echoes through the mountains, reminding us of the enduring power of song.
