6th Annual IndieX Film Fest – Industry Panel

Bringing together filmmakers, producers, actors, and creative professionals from different backgrounds and countries, the discussion offered audiences an inside look at the realities of independent filmmaking, creative collaboration, and building sustainable careers in today’s film industry. The panel featured Irish filmmaker Anne Williamson, German filmmaker Joshua Mueller, IndieX alumna Janelle Christa, veteran producer and entertainment executive Greg H. Sims, and special guest Arthur Roberts, the veteran actor who stars in One Last Drive, which celebrated its North American Premiere during the festival. The conversation was moderated by Tristan Boesch, who guided the discussion through a wide range of topics spanning filmmaking, performance, production, and career development.
Anne Williamson discussed her transition from theatre to film and the importance of actor collaboration, drawing from decades of experience leading stage productions in Ireland. Her nominated short Bridget, which received its USA Premiere during the festival, served as a natural starting point for a conversation about community-based storytelling and the relationship between performance and narrative.
Joshua Mueller shared his experience as a writer, director, producer, editor, and cinematographer working across multiple disciplines. He spoke about creating ambitious projects with limited resources, including his interconnected Six Short Films initiative, while also reflecting on the development of his award-winning thriller Clocking Out and the World Premiere of The Boy & The Wolf.
Award-winning filmmaker and actress Janelle Christa offered a unique perspective shaped by her long relationship with IndieX Film Fest. As both an alumna and this year’s award winner for Our Father, she discussed the role of personal expression in filmmaking, the balance between experimentation and emotional storytelling, and the importance of authenticity in creative work.
Producer and entertainment executive Greg H. Sims brought a broader industry perspective, reflecting on a career spanning film production, distribution, artist management, and music industry development. As Executive Producer of One Last Drive, which celebrated its North American Premiere at the festival, Sims offered insights into the development and production of the film, starring veteran actor Arthur Roberts, who also joined the panel discussion. Drawing on decades of experience, he shared practical advice on navigating the business side of entertainment while maintaining a focus on storytelling, collaboration, and long-term creative growth.
Veteran actor Arthur Roberts added another dimension to the conversation, sharing reflections from a career spanning several decades in film and television. Speaking from an actor’s perspective, Roberts discussed the importance of perseverance, professionalism, and collaboration, while also offering personal anecdotes from his extensive experience both in front of the camera and within the independent film community.
