Kuikui, who grew up in a single-parent family, was raised by her mother after they divorced when she was an infant. Her mother came from a wealthy family and often worked, leaving little time for Kekai. As a result, Kuikui developed a unique personality but deeply craved her mother’s love and attention. One day, her mother unexpectedly made time to be with her, bringing along an older sister. Kuikui was overjoyed and looked forward to that day. At the amusement park, the sister bought her a goldfish. Unbeknownst to Kekai, the sister was the daughter of her mother’s new husband, and she didn’t know about their marriage. She said nothing and simply poured the water from the fishbowl down the toilet.
