A nervous servant attempts to prove his sanity while confessing to murder in this animated adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s psychological masterpiece. After killing an elderly man because of his disturbing “vulture eye,” the narrator dismembers the body and conceals it beneath the floorboards. When police arrive to investigate, he confidently invites them to sit in the same room as the hidden remains, but his guilt manifests as an overwhelming auditory hallucination. The relentless beating of the dead man’s heart, growing louder with each passing moment, drives him to a screaming confession. (Music created by humans. Animation created with A.I.)
